Iran has publicly declined the terms outlined in the joint statement issued by Kuwait and Jordan regarding the Durra oilfield. As per Mehr News Agency, Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, emphasized Iran's rights in the field and criticized the one-sided nature of the statement. He stated that the statement does not guarantee any rights for the party making the claims, as reported by Al-Qabas daily. Kanaani referred to previous discussions and consultations between Iran and Kuwait, highlighting the significance of technical and legal negotiations rather than exaggerated media posturing. He urged Kuwait to refrain from such approaches and instead promote diplomatic dialogue, which he considered the most constructive approach to address the matter.
