Based on the state’s commitment to taking care of public health and taking the necessary measures to prevent and treat communicable diseases, the Ministry of Health issued a circular to the assistant undersecretaries, directors of health regions, hospitals, health centers, central administrations, and heads of medical bodies, requiring that persons infected with a communicable disease or suspected of being infected with such diseases be reported.
The circular is based on Law No. 8 of 1969 concerning health precautions for the prevention of communicable diseases, which states in Article 2 that "If a person is infected or suspected of being infected with a communicable disease, it must be reported within 24 hours to the nearest preventive health center." Article 3 specifies that the primary person responsible for this reporting is the physician who examined the patient.
