Kuwait Electricity load index experiences another surge

  • 19/08/2024

On Saturday, the electricity load index experienced another increase, nearing the critical threshold with a measurement of 17,035 megawatts. This surge was attributed to escalating temperatures, which reached 50 degrees Celsius. Consequently, there was a notable rise in electricity consumption, particularly during the peak hours from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Officials from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy have indicated that the current circumstances require the implementation of rationalization measures. A key recommendation is to set air conditioner temperatures at 23 degrees Celsius rather than 18 degrees, as air conditioning units account for 70 percent of electricity consumption.
