Argentina Beat Switzerland 3-1 to Reach World Cup Semi-finals

Kansas City: Argentina kept their FIFA World Cup title defence alive with a 3-1 extra-time victory over Switzerland in the quarter-finals, securing a blockbuster semi-final clash against England.

Alexis Mac Allister gave Argentina an early lead in the 10th minute, but Dan Ndoye equalised for Switzerland in the 67th minute to force extra time. The match swung further in Argentina’s favour after Switzerland were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Breel Embolo in the second half.

Julián Álvarez restored Argentina’s lead with a superb strike in the 112th minute, before Lautaro Martínez sealed the victory with a late goal in the second period of extra time.

The victory sends Argentina into the World Cup semi-finals, where they will take on England, while the other semi-final will see France face Spain.
