Kuwait Approves Contract to Upgrade Power Grid Data Systems

Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Central Agency for Public Tenders has approved the award of a contract worth KD13.971 million to upgrade data collection and analysis equipment used at the country’s power generation plants and main substations.

The project was approved following observations made by the State Audit Bureau and covers five contract items awarded to bidders that met the required technical specifications and conditions.

As part of the tender process, the agency instructed all participating companies to extend their initial bid bonds in accordance with Article 46 of Public Tenders Law No. 49 of 2016, which governs the validity of tenders.

The project aims to modernise equipment responsible for collecting and analysing operational data from electricity production and transmission facilities, ensuring greater efficiency, reliability and operational readiness.

According to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the upgraded systems will support the continued development of Kuwait’s national electricity grid and provide decision-makers with more accurate real-time data to improve planning, monitoring and operational decisions.

The tender had previously attracted complaints from several participating companies. The Central Agency for Public Tenders said it has informed the concerned firms of its final decision regarding the contract award.
