Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has warned motorists that serious traffic violations, including illegal overtaking and deliberately obstructing traffic, could result in court proceedings and vehicle seizure.
Under Article 36 of the traffic law, deliberately causing traffic obstruction on public roads can result in a fine of KD 20, while violations of overtaking regulations under Article 37 can attract a KD 15 fine. Depending on the seriousness of the violation, vehicles may also be seized for up to two months under Article 207.
The General Traffic Department urged motorists to strictly follow overtaking rules and avoid behavior that disrupts traffic flow or puts other road users at risk.
Latest Inspection Figures
The Interior Ministry also released figures from security and traffic inspections conducted between August 16 and 22. During the week:
- 162 people wanted in various cases were arrested.
- 86 residency-law violators were detained.
- Five people suspected of drug use and seven people found in unusual circumstances were referred to the relevant authorities.
- 1,932 traffic violations were recorded.
- 51 vehicles were seized.
- 10 wanted vehicles linked to various incidents were recovered.
- Police responded to 131 road accidents.
Authorities said strict inspections will continue across Kuwait as part of efforts to improve traffic safety, enforce traffic regulations and maintain public security.
