TRAVEL BAN ON UNVACCINATED, VIOLATES KUWAITI CONSTITUTION

  • 04/05/2021

Kuwait City : The cabinet's decision to prevent citizens who have not been vaccinated from traveling has been met with severe objection from MPs. MP Osama Al-Shaheen has stated that the decision is unconstitutional and also commented that while encouraging vaccination is reasonable, but forcing people to be vaccinated is not acceptable. Another MP Muhannad Al-Saye has displayed concern over the government's current policy and commented that the government is punishing the people for its failures. He pointed out that the government is not providing enough vaccines and also that the waiting list for vaccination has become endless.

The Kuwaiti government on Monday have declared a travel ban on Kuwaitis, and their first-degree relatives and domestic helpers as of May 22 if they do not get vaccinated. Meanwhile, Young people who are not included in the vaccination are exempted from the ban, and non-Kuwaitis are still prevented from entering the country.
