Kuwait City: Kuwait's Minister of HealthDr. Sheikh Bassel Al-Sabah said that US pharmaceutical companies Moderna andJohnson & Johnson have been contacted by the Kuwait government forsupplying COVID-19 vaccines.
He stated that the delivery of Moderna andJohnson and Johnson vaccines is expected in the last quarter of this year. Healso commented on the delay in delivery of vaccine and said that theunavailability is since 75% of the vaccine produced are consumed by 10countries, only what's left is available for the rest.
The vaccine producers have recommendedpre-usage tests, If the results came positive, vaccination will start directly,he stressed, pointing out that the ministry has a plan to vaccinate the 200,000people who are waiting for the second doze in 10 days.
But if AstraZeneca demanded more time tosend the results, beneficiaries will have the choice of getting a second dosefrom the Pfizer vaccine, he said
"We are approaching herd immunity, butthere are challenges, including the lack of vaccines," Dr. Sheikh BasselAl-Sabah made clear.
The minister affirmed that the country'spandemic situation is stable, despite registering new infections daily as otherworld's countries do.
