Manama: Two men have been sentenced to one year in prison each in Bahrain for falsifying covid PCR test results. They were arrested while trying to travel to Saudi Arabia via the King Fahd Causeway after correcting the date on the certificate.

It was decided to correct the date of the earlier test result as one of the two did not have the new test result. But on inspection by Causeway officials, the certificate was found to be forged. They were arrested by Bahraini police following a tip-off from Saudi officials.

He confessed during interrogation that he had previously tested covid and had corrected the date due to a negative result. The second arrestee also knew that the accomplice was in possession of a fake test result. The two were charged with forging a document. The chief prosecutor said this was a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison in Bahrain.
