Kuwait City: In the last five months, 10,780 nationals have been recruited in various departments across the country, according to the Civil Service Commission. A total of 2,089 people retired from government service during the period, officials said. According to figures released by the Kuwait Civil Service Commission, the number of foreigners in various government departments has also dropped significantly. The number of expatriate workers fell from 71,600 in March to 69,511 in August. At the same time, the number of Kuwaiti employees increased from 308,409 to 319,189, officials said.

According to the latest figures, the number of expatriates is the lowest in the health and education sectors. The Civil Service Commission report also noted a small increase in the number of foreigners in the law department and the Awqaf. In five months, 602 foreign workers left the health department. The number of foreign workers working in the education sector fell from 24,321 to 23,623. The increase in the number of foreigners in the Ministry of Awqaf is due to the appointment of foreign Imams and Mu'adhs in various mosques across the country. According to ministry sources, the foreigners were recruited due to lack of availability of locals in the region.
