DRIVERS IN DUBAI CAN NOW PAY THEIR PARKING FEES THROUGH WHATSAPP

Dubai: Drivers in Dubai will now be able to pay parking fees through WhatsApp. Ahmed Mahboob, executive director of the Dubai Road Transport Authority's parking division, said the new system would take effect in the next two weeks.


He said the new system is currently being tested and will be available to the public soon. Dubai currently has a system for paying parking fees via SMS. For this, a special message is sent to 7275. The new setting will allow the same message to be sent via WhatsApp. 

Once the message is sent, a confirmation will be received from the customer and an amount equal to the parking fee will be withdrawn from the digital wallet. 

In addition to being more convenient, telecom service providers will also be exempted from the 30 fils charge when sending an SMS to pay a parking fee. Ahmed Mehboob also said that the smart map has been updated to record the location of parking tickets more accurately.
