Kuwait City: The Civil Service Commission has directed all ministries to take steps to reduce costs and make appointments more efficient. Employees' overtime allowances and rewards will be cut. The Ministry of Finance has proposed to reduce the use of funds in the face of declining oil revenues and the need to allocate more funds for social welfare schemes. Unnecessary expenses should be avoided. Funding for non-essential projects will also be reduced, officials said.

The Civil Service Commission also recommended the termination of the services of consultants working in ministries and affiliated institutions. It is estimated that there are about 360 Kuwaiti consultants among the government agencies affiliated with CSC. In the wake of the Covid crisis, the austerity measures are being announced and there is a proposal to reduce the daily expenses of government offices. Meanwhile, sources close to the Civil Service Commission said that it was surprising that government agencies had hired so many consultants despite having the required staff.
