'FAMILY AND TOURIST VISAS IN MARCH'

Kuwait City: After a nearly year-and-a-half pause, the Ministry of Interior is considering granting family and tourist visit permits in March. They explained that the Ministry of Interior's General Department for Residency Affairs is awaiting a report from the Ministry of Health on the stability of the health situation in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country in order to make the appropriate decision, especially with the recent decrease in the number of new cases and admissions to intensive care units and wards, and surpassing the peak of the omicron wave in the country.

Despite the Cabinet's decision to resume issuing all types of visas to expatriates, family and tourist trips were halted since the Cabinet's decision only pertained to work visas and commercial visit visas. According to the sources, the resumption of family and tourist visits for children and spouses will contribute to the revitalization of the economic movement at various levels, in addition to the humanitarian aspect, taking into account the circumstances of the reunification of some families residing in the country.

They reported that dozens of expats visit the residency affairs departments in the six governorates on a daily basis to inquire about the resumption of family and tourist visits in order to bring their families, especially as Ramadan approaches. In collaboration with various institutions, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is taking the required steps to assure an adequate supply of basic foodstuffs. Sources acknowledged that several plans for coping with emergencies exist, emphasising that the country's strategic reserve is large - more than six months supply of various basic goods.

The Ministry of Education has proposed a process for allocating funds from the current fiscal year's budget for the supply, transportation, installation, and maintenance of machinery, equipment, skateboards, balancing devices, and multi-purpose devices. This step is intended to ensure the upkeep of the aforementioned products due to the necessity for general technical counselling for kindergartens in accordance with the defined technical criteria.
