Tehran : Iran says the agreement signed this week between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to develop the Durra gas field is illegal. Iran said on Saturday that Tehran's involvement in the region should be included in any activity to operate and develop the field.

Kuwait signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia to develop the Durra Field, which is expected to produce one billion standard cubic feet of gas per day and 84,000 barrels of condensate per day, according to a statement from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation last Monday. Following this, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed on Twitter that the Arash / Al-Dura gas field is a joint field between Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Parts of it are located in areas between Iran and Kuwait where water borders are not defined. The tweet also states that the Islamic Republic of Iran also has the right to use the gas field.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatib al - Zadeh was quoted in Iranian media as saying that the recent move by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia within the framework of a cooperation agreement was contrary to previous talks. He added that any activity in the operation and development of the region should be coordinated with the three countries.
