KUWAIT HAS SEEN A 75,000 DROP IN THE NUMBER OF "DOMESTIC" WORKERS

Kuwait City: The issue of domestic workers is still a long-running crisis that first surfaced at the beginning of the Corona pandemic. According to official figures, the number of domestic employees declined by roughly 75,000 in just one year, from December 2020 to December 2021. Domestic employees numbered 593,684 male and female workers till last December, according to labour market figures released by the Central Administration of Statistics, but they will number more than 668,000 in December 2020. 


The Indian labour force was the largest, with roughly 279,000 workers in December 2021, more than the Filipino labour force, which came in second with 135,400, Bangladeshi labour, 76,800, and Sri Lankan labour, which came in fourth with 64,400. Nepalese labour came in fifth place with roughly 11,451, followed by Ethiopians with 10,689, Indonesians with 2,407, Beninese labour with 1,583, Pakistani labour with 1,580, and Sudanese labour with 1,331.
