A SPECIAL SESSION ON RETIREES HAS BEEN CALLED IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: On Monday, the National Assembly Office called for a special session on June 14 to address the problem of retirees. This will be followed by many sessions debating budgets, final accounts for ministries and governmental entities, as well as the country's financial situation, according to National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim. Al-Ghanim stated that the parliament is coordinating with the government to convene the retirees' session.


He stated that the parliamentary financial and economic affairs committee has completed its report and is currently working on reforms. "The pensioners' issue is an urgent matter, involving an enormously important part of society whose concerns have been neglected for a long time," he stated. "The parliament has not been convening sessions recently due to the nature of the government's status of only dealing with urgent affairs; yet, urgent topics should be debated at the parliament," he stated.
