Kuwait City: The American Air Quality Index (AQI), released by the Swiss company IQ Air, placed Kuwait City eighth overall and first in the Arab world on the list of the most polluted cities.

Lahore, a city in Pakistan, came in first, then Delhi, an Indian city; Mumbai, also an Indian city; Chongqing, a Chinese city; Jakarta, a city in Indonesia; and Dhaka, a city in Bangladesh. Both Wuhan, China, and Kathmandu, Nepal, are ranked ninth and tenth, respectively, after the City of Kuwait.

According to several categories, the American index rates the quality of the air as follows: good if the score is between 0 and 50; moderate if it is between 51 and 100; unhealthy for people with allergies if it is between 101 and 150; unhealthy if it is between 151 and 200; completely unhealthy if it is between 201 and 300; and dangerous if it reads 301 and above. This indicator tracks the levels of five major pollutants: particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone.
