SEA TURTLE FROM KUWAIT ARRIVES IN QATAR, HEADING FOR UAE, ESTIMATED TO BE BACK IN APRIL

Kuwait City: On August 20, readings of sea turtles fitted with tracking devices of the Environmental Public Authority released from Kharouh Island. It is reported that one of them traveled a distance of about 600 km and reached the Qatari territorial waters towards the south of the Arab Emirates. Environment Public Authority Technical Department Deputy Director General Dr. Abdullah Al Zaidan said.


Turtles come to the island to lay their eggs, which is considered its natural habitat. He explained that both sea turtles are being tracked in the waters of Kuwait and local waters. Al Saidan pointed out that the first turtle weighed 30 kilograms and the largest weighed 40 kilograms. He pointed out that when the readings of the tracking devices of the small turtle were observed, it returned to the Gulf of Kuwait and exited it yesterday, traveling 300 to 400 km.
