Kuwait City: The level of national labour demand for jobs in the private sector underwent significant changes during the first half of this year. According to a report released by the Labor Market System, 183 Kuwaitis left the corporate sector due to a rise in demand for hiring in the oil sector.

According to the report, 250 citizens were appointed in oil companies, the most in all state-owned organisations. The report noted that 63 Kuwaitis left their prior jobs, whether in the public or private sectors, to work under Chapter Five, which is concerned with small and medium-sized businesses.

The sources noted that 57.1% of all SMEs' owners are women, and that 16,885 Kuwaitis are registered under Chapter Five and have their own projects. With the new changes, national labour is now more prevalent in businesses than in other non-government sectors; 50,537 Kuwaitis were registered, and 2,057 worked for state-owned oil companies.

The number of jobs in the government sector for Kuwaitis increased significantly during the first half of this year (8,560 new hires), bringing the total to 323.3 thousand people. The construction industry is where Kuwaitis are most concentrated, followed by the industrial sector, administrative, support, professional, and scientific services, in that order.
