EXPATS AND KUWAITIS CAN BOTH SELL THEIR LEAVES

  • 08/11/2022

Kuwait City: Kuwaiti nationals and foreigners are both represented on the list of oil industry employees who have applied to sell their vacation days. They claimed that between 13,000 and 14,000 workers in the oil industry benefited from the sale of leave days. Permanent employees, both Kuwaitis and foreigners, who meet the requirements outlined in Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Board decision No. 22/2022 dated May 30, 2022 are among them.

Any modification to this decision that would deprive expatriates would necessitate the KPC Board of Directors making a new decision. Given that rights and legal positions were established and preserved by the council's first decision No. 22/2022, depriving expatriates may spark legal controversy. The budget for the oil industry is separate, and it includes funding for the leave days that oil workers are entitled to as part of their total end-of-service benefits. Vacation sales are valued at between KD 135 million and KD 140 million overall. The industry is prepared for funding and is awaiting approval from the government.
