Kuwait City: Six customer service representatives have been reported to the Public Prosecution for investigation by the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy for altering energy bills and replacing electricity and water metres without the necessary paperwork and payment.

According to sources, the concerned sector officials reviewed the transactions made by these employees and found that one of the bills' value had been reduced from KD 40,000 to KD 3,000. Three of the six employees were reportedly suspended by the ministry while investigations were ongoing, according to sources. The process of replacing metres without submitting paperwork attesting to payment of fees, according to sources, "means the person who carried out this procedure decreased the amount in the energy bills accumulated under the metre number that was replaced illegally."
