NATIONAL GUARD JOINED MPW STAFF TO COMBAT RAIN AND TRAFFIC CONGESTION

Kuwait City: Heavy rains fell across the country on Friday, causing traffic jams on major highways throughout the country. Heavy rains caused the closure of some roads, while pools of rainwater formed on others, and the total amount of accumulated rainwater reached 20 centimeters. 


The General Traffic Department, however, closed a number of tunnels as a precaution to ensure the safety of drivers, according to the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, Ahmad Al-Saleh. He confirmed that the emergency teams were sent out right away to deal with the flooding and rainwater pools in various areas. According to sources, Dr. Amani Bouqammaz, Minister of Public Works, Electricity, Water, and Energy, met with the concerned ministry officials on Friday in the Operations Unit of the Maintenance Engineering Sector. According to reliable sources, the minister personally monitored the situation throughout the torrential downpours. 

Additionally, the Ministry of Health reaffirmed that it was prepared to handle reports sent to the Medical Emergency Department as well as the emergency rooms in public hospitals, which would be receiving people hurt in accidents and other incidents. According to a representative of the health sector, the Medical Emergency Department responds to reports from various locations around the clock, especially during periods of heavy rain.
