Kuwait City: Members of the Parliamentary Interior and Defense Committee and Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al Khalid Al Sabah have agreed to meet later this month to discuss the new residency law, new systems for issuing visit visas and rules for issuing residency permits. Sheikh Talal has informed the MPs that he is ready to attend the meeting.

Sources said the government is ready to make amendments to the new residency law and will soon send it to the National Assembly, where it will be discussed by the home and defense committee. The MPs said the new law was titled "Regulating Residencies" and would triple fees. Amendments to the visit visas will be issued in January doubling the existing fees, and only a few categories will be able to obtain the visas.

Strict security campaigns will be continued against residential violators. The new residence law includes a five-year residency permit. This was stated in the draft law sent to the previous assembly. But the local newspaper reported that the permit is not for investors, businessmen or the children of Kuwaiti women
