Kuwait City:  Amnesty International says the death penalty is extremely cruel. Amna Amna Gullali, Amnesty International's Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, was reacting to the execution of seven prisoners in Kuwait. Capital punishment is the ultimate form of cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. Amna Gullali also demanded that the Kuwaiti authorities withdraw from this method of punishment as soon as possible.

Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all circumstances, regardless of the nature and circumstances of the crime. The organization stated that the death penalty is a violation of the right to life and Kuwaiti authorities have an obligation to bring those responsible for serious crimes to justice. The organization also demanded that the Kuwaiti authorities prosecute the criminals in accordance with international laws.
