AUDIO CLIP FROM KUWAITI NAVY PATROL BOATS, EXPLANATION

Kuwait City:  The Army General Staff Presidency issued an explanatory statement regarding audio clips circulating on social media, including conversations between Kuwaiti Navy patrol boats and one of the General Company's rigs for Iraqi ports. The audio clip shows the trawling boat pleading with the Iraqi rig to stop mining. The explanation is that this incident is old.


This happened last September 12 when one of the General Company's rigs for Iraqi ports carried out offshore drilling in territorial waters without prior coordination with Kuwait. The situation was handled by the Kuwaiti Navy. Then co-ordination measures were taken. Both the parties have taken measures to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future, the officials said.
