KUWAIT'S TOP OIL WORKERS RECEIVED FAKE "LUXURY" WATCHES AS GIFTS

Kuwait City: Gifts of fake luxury watches in the oil sector - a hot topic - date back to ten years ago, when one of the oil sector's companies decided to honour its former five presidents, who left their mark and achievements in the company's history, by gifting luxury watches on the occasion of the company's golden jubilee or the 50th anniversary of the company's establishment.

The story was told as follows: "For one reason or another, it was not possible to deliver these luxurious gifts to the honorees." As a result, they were kept in the company's financial department for many years. With the passage of time, the State Audit Bureau discovered that these valuable gifts, which were luxury watches, remained in the financial department." When the bureau asked the concerned officials why these gifts were still there, they said they were honorary gifts that were not distributed.
This prompted the bureau to demand that they be given to those who deserve them, even if no celebration was held. As a result, the company sent these gifts to the former presidents' homes with one of its officials and handed them over to them or their family members if the concerned person had died. After receiving these watches, which had been with the treasurer in the financial department for about ten years, one of the recipients requested that they be serviced. He took the watch to a specialist, who discovered that it was a fake and not an original.

These watches were collected from the honorees and examined by a specialist, who confirmed that they were all fake, despite the fact that they had been purchased with official invoices ten years ago. As soon as the watches were proven to be forgeries, the company formed an investigation committee to look into five original watches that had been purchased for up to KD 10,000 at the time but turned out to be forgeries.
