KUWAIT RESUMES ISSUANCE OF FAMILY-VISITING VISAS

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Interior is reportedly going to issue instructions in the next few days to resume issuance of family reunification visas. The first phase involves children. Then visas for wife, mother and father will be allotted as per criteria determined by the Ministry. The move is part of efforts to reform demographics and protect residents' rights.


The suspension of issuing visas for a specific period was based on the instructions of the Home Ministry to set up special regulations and procedures in this regard. At the same time, Manpower Authority Acting Director Dr. Mubarak Al Jafur said. Those workers will be guaranteed full protection from the moment the contract is signed until they join the country.

The Authority issues work permits to nationals of all countries except those specifically instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. He added that the authority is following up on the implementation by some countries of Kuwait's observations on abuses in recruitment mechanisms in some employment agencies and domestic recruitment offices as part of efforts to regulate the labor market and protect workers' rights.
