Kuwait City, Feb 7: The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition in Kuwait announced yesterday that food products that contain insects will not be allowed into the country. The Technical Committee for Food said in a statement after its meeting: “According to the approved Gulf regulations (general requirements for halal food) that prohibit the use of all types of insects and worms in food, these products are not allowed to enter.” A few days before EU countries allowed conversion of more types of insects into food such as domestic cockroaches, caterpillars, wheat worms, and locusts.
