Pakistan-IMF bailout talks continue

Pakistan,Feb 11: The Pakistani government on Thursday continued talks with the IMF over the release of a key financial bailout package due on the final day of the international lenders' visit. A delegation from the IMF landed in Islamabad last week to resolve what Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif called unimaginable conditions.

Pakistan's economy is in a difficult situation and facing a balance of payments crisis as it tries to repay its large foreign debt amid political turmoil and a deteriorating security situation. Abid Hasan, an economic analyst and former World Bank adviser in the capital Islamabad that It's clear that the IMF wants a lot more than what the government is willing to do.
