Kuwait City, April 6: On 5th April 1988, Kuwait Airways Flight 422 from Bangkok to Kuwait was hijacked by Lebanese guerilla fighters and forced to fly to various countries, and this became one of the longest skyjacking in the world. Including three Kuwaiti royals, the Boeing 747 had 112 people and 15 crew members. The hijackers demanded freedom for 17 terrorists jailed in Kuwait, and they killed two captives. The hijackers escaped after landing in Algeria 16 days later and were never discovered.
