56% of Kuwaitis has vitamin D insufficiency

Kuwait City, April 18: The Kuwait Medical Student Association awareness campaign claims that a research shows 56 percent of Kuwaitis has vitamin D insufficiency. Lack of sunlight exposure is the most frequent cause, given that vitamin D is produced by the body when skin is exposed to sunlight. A lack of vitamin D can cause more severe health issues. According to the Kuwait Medical Student Association, the best sources of vitamin D include egg yolks, fortified milk products, liver, salmon, cod liver oil, mushrooms, and dietary supplements taken under the guidance of a physician.
