UN Secretary-General asks to stop targeting media

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday urged the global community to "speak with one voice" and demanded an end to the detention and imprisonment of journalists for performing their duties. Guterres emphasized that press freedom is essential to "all our freedom."In his video message prior to World Press Freedom Day 2023, he stated that "press freedom is the bedrock of democracy and justice." May 3rd is observed as World Press Freedom Day.
