Abu Dhabi Authorities Urge Residents to Secure Homes Before Summer Travel

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority and Abu Dhabi Police have urged residents travelling during the summer holidays to take essential safety precautions before leaving their homes to reduce the risk of fires and protect lives and property.

Authorities said many residential fires that occur while families are away can be prevented by following a few simple safety measures before travelling.

Residents have been advised to:

Disconnect unnecessary electrical appliances.
Turn off the main gas supply.
Ensure smoke alarms are installed and functioning properly.
Check that doors and windows are securely locked before leaving.

Officials stressed that spending just a few minutes preparing a home before departure can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and property damage during extended absences.

The advisory forms part of ongoing efforts to promote public safety and encourage residents to adopt preventive measures, particularly during the busy summer travel season.
