MORE THAN 2.5 LAKHS EXPATRIATES LEFT KUWAIT IN PAST YEAR

Kuwait City: From June 2020 to 2021, the Kuwaiti labor market lost 253,233 migrant workers. According to the Kuwait Society for Human Rights, 205,050 workers in the private sector, 42,202 in the domestic sector and 6,981 in the government sector have left the country. 


In the five months from March to August, the government shut down 2,089 expatriate services in the public sector and recruited 10,780 Kuwaiti citizens during the same period, the local newspaper reported. From July to September this year, 999 legal consultants were hired. 

71 in the psychosocial category (51 women and 20 men). Of the 69 cases of disputes between employers and workers, 51 were against women and 20 against men. While 48 cases were settled amicably, 21 cases were referred to the Labor Courts, the report said.
