IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 15 KUWAITI WOMEN GET DIVORCED EVERY DAY

Kuwait City: Divorce rates in the country are rising. Five years on, it's clear that 15 Kuwaiti women are getting divorced every day. According to the Central Statistics Office, the divorce rate has risen sharply over the past five years. Between 2016 and 2020, the divorce rate rose to 20 per day.


Of these, 15 cases were related to Kuwaiti women. Five are expatriate women. The divorce rate had dropped last year due to the covid epidemic. A total of 36,345 divorce cases were filed in the last five years. Of these, 26,576 were related to Kuwaiti women. Of these, 22,626 were divorced from Kuwaiti nationals, or 58 percent. Out of 3950 non-Kuwaiti women, Kuwaiti women got divorced.
