Kuwait City: According to Hajj and Umrah offices in Kuwait, there has been an upsurge in demand from expatriates for Umrah travels by land since the decision to enable expatriates to perform Umrah by land was announced. These offices are competing to put up a set of deals and packages to capitalise on the current period, which coincides with the mid-year school holiday and favourable weather conditions. During a daily visit, a number of Umrah officials stated, "The return of Umrah by land happened after it was suspended for a long period owing to the COVID-19 pandemic."

The Umrah journey by land lasts ten days and includes six nights in Makkah and two nights in Madinah. The trip costs KD 135 per person in a double room, KD 160 in a single room, and KD 195 in a single room. The cost may rise if the pilgrim's choices differ from those indicated by the company, which will reimburse its costs based on personal demands." According to experts, the cost of the Umrah package by land only includes the cost of the visa and does not include meals or the obligatory PCR testing.

According to them, the recent decision of the Council of Ministers to end the quarantine for vaccinated arriving passengers if a PCR test is performed immediately after arrival will contribute to an increase in demand for Umrah reservations because the decision provides facilities that allow returnees to Kuwait to quickly end the quarantine and carry out their daily tasks.
