MPs CALL FOR EASING OF HEALTH RESTRICTIONS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Kuwaiti members of Parliament on Wednesday demanded that the government ease the health limitations imposed by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), particularly with the provision of booster vaccines. They stressed that actual, rather than online, classes should continue, and that all lockdown measures must be abandoned during a parliament session on governmental health conditions to contain the pandemic. They demanded that now that herd immunity has been achieved by vaccinating 80% of the country's population, Kuwait, like other countries, should relax virus-bearing prohibitions, instead of forcing the unvaccinated to obtain shots.

They also requested the government to relax health-care regulations for children and set up virus-testing centres in all governorates. On Wednesday, the National Assembly debated the government's response to the coronavirus outbreak. Earlier, Minister of Health Dr. Khalid Al-Saeed and his team presented a report on the virus's progress and the steps taken to combat it. The minister emphasised the importance of a flexible strategy in dealing with the crisis, as well as the importance of getting vaccinated, which helped to reduce deaths and the negative effects of Covid-19.
