Kuwait City:Daher Al-Suwayan, the head of the Kuwaiti Federation of Fishermen, stated that abundant local fish is expected to be available in the fish market, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan as the weather continues to warm – conditions that are favourable for fishermen. Fishing in Kuwait's territorial waters increases at this time of year, while fish prices fall. He anticipates that the prices of fish such as Nuwaibi, Al-Sha'am, and Al-Shim will fall in comparison to their current levels. When it comes to Zubaidi, he says it's one of the delicacies on the Kuwaiti table, and the prices remain stable even though this type of fish is plentiful. Meanwhile, Al-Suwayyan has urged fishermen to follow the laws and decisions that govern fishing within Kuwait's territorial waters, particularly during the seasons that prohibit fishing of certain types of fish, such as Zubaidi, shrimp, and mullet, in order to aid the breeding process and ensure that plenty of fish is available during their season, and to support efforts in the country's food security.
