Kuwait City: Ahmed Al-Enezi, Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs' Public Relations and Media Department, revealed the regulations for arranging and collecting donations during the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1443 AH, which corresponds to 2022 AD. Al-Enezi stated in a press statement that the ministry's department of charity societies and charity organisations has put in place the appropriate arrangements and processes to organise the collecting of donations during Ramadan, and that licenced charities must follow these instructions.

According to Al-Enezi, "charities will be prohibited from collecting cash donations in any form, whether at their headquarters, public places, or other locations, with the need to commit to collecting donations using the licenced means stipulated in the fundraising regulations issued by Ministerial Resolution (128/A) for the year 2016 and its amendments, through the Internet, online, bank deductions, electronic applications in smart phones, electronic collection devices."

"It is prohibited to collect donations in any form in unlicensed places – malls and public squares – except after obtaining permission from the ministry, with the need to adhere to the places and times specified for collection according to the timetable set by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs," he added. "The charity societies and associations are obligated to utilise only bank accounts approved by the ministry and comply with all instructions provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs, and write the date of the donation, the name of the donor, and all data clearly," he continued.

Al-Enezi urged the associations to commit to provide a receipt after completing the data input for each donor, as well as a copy of the Knet to each donor when the withdrawal process was completed. Meanwhile, Al-Enezi has praised the pioneering role played by Kuwaiti charities, a role that contributes to Kuwait's good global reputation in the humanitarian, charitable, and relief aspects, indicating that the organisational process carried out by the ministry on a regular basis is to protect the rights of the donor and the association and to maintain the bright image of charity work in Kuwait.
