Kuwait City: The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) recently met with representatives from the Health Ministry and agreed to award a tender for providing health insurance to retired citizens (Afiya) to Gulf Insurance Group, which submitted the lowest bid — KD354.56 million — and met the conditions and technical specifications. According to sources, the deal has a two-year term and will be inked in the coming days.

According to sources, the contract would go into force immediately after signing and will cover around 135,000 retirees. According to sources, recipients will not pay for covered medical services as long as the cost is less than the set maximum.

According to sources, the ministry decided to prolong the old contract for nine months until the new contract was awarded — the first extension was for three months at a cost of KD42.7 million, and the second extension was for six months at a cost of KD82.6 million. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has released the Covid-19 vaccine schedule for Ramadan. According to the ministry, the following vaccinations against Coronavirus will be administered from Sunday through Thursday during Ramadan: – From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Kuwait Vaccination Center in Mishref; – From 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at the Jaber Bridge Center, primary healthcare centres, and the Jleeb Youth Center.
