DURING RAMADAN, WATER CONSUMPTION EXCEEDS WATER PRODUCTION

Kuwait City: On the first day of Ramadan, water consumption outpaced production by 28 million imperial gallons. On April 2, 433 million gallons were used, but only 405 million gallons were produced.

"It is inevitable that the rate of consumption during the days of Ramadan surpasses the rate of production, especially at this time of year when a number of water producing distillates are undergoing maintenance work," informed ministry sources stated. The gap was made up from the strategic stockpile, which totaled 3902.8 million imperial gallons."

They confirmed that the ministry's production capacity is 688 million imperial gallons per day, indicating that the volume of water consumption is projected to exceed the peak consumption rate of 507 million gallons recorded last summer next year.

On the electrical level, the power consumption index has begun to grow, reaching 9,490 megawatts a few days ago.

According to the sources, it is expected to cross the 10,000 megawatt mark by mid-April.

To reduce waste, the ministry urged users to rationalise their water and electricity consumption by using only what they needed.

According to the sources, the ministry is working hard to ensure that its services are available to all of its consumers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
