Riyadh: Operations for artificial rain have begun in Saudi Arabia. In the first phase, the initiative was launched in Riyadh, Qasim and Hail, said Environment, Water and Agriculture Minister NG. Said Abdur-Rahman bin Abdullah Muhsin Al-Fadli. The minister said that work has been started to fly aircraft through the clouds in these areas and distribute special chemicals.

The project aims to increase the average rainfall in the country from the current rate of not more than 100 mm per annum. Saudi Arabia is one of the driest countries in the world without permanent rivers and lakes. He said the Saudi cabinet had recently given permission for artificial rain. An operation room has been set up at the National Weather Service headquarters in Riyadh to monitor rain clouds, according to the Meteorological Center's CEO and Artificial Rain Project Supervisor. Ayman Ghulam said. Flights began flying over the Riyadh region.

The scattering of chemicals through the clouds continues successfully. It will be completed on time. The Center will release periodic reports on the progress of the project. The full-time operating room is equipped with state-of-the-art weather monitoring and radars. International scientists and experts are available to monitor clouds and determine locations for the distribution of stimulants.

Designated aircraft deliver 'eco-friendly' stimulants to specific locations in the clouds. This will stimulate the process of precipitation at the targets and increase the rainfall. The second phase will cover Azir, Albaha and Ta'if regions.
