In preparation for Hajj 2025, Saudi Arabia has installed the world’s largest cooling system at Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque) in Mecca. Designed to create a safe and comfortable environment for millions of pilgrims, the system boasts a massive cooling capacity of 155,000 tons and operates around the clock.

Managed by the General Authority for the Administration of the Two Holy Mosques, the cooling system is part of an integrated plan to enhance worship conditions, especially during the peak summer season. It functions through two main stations—Shamiya Station with a capacity of 120,000 tons and Ajyad Station with 35,000 tons.

The system maintains a consistent indoor temperature between 22°C and 24°C using advanced air filtration technology capable of eliminating 95% of air pollutants. This ensures a clean and pleasant atmosphere for worshippers.

The cooling infrastructure will undergo continuous maintenance and upgrades in line with the increasing number of pilgrims and the growing demand for efficient services during Hajj. The project underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to improving facilities for pilgrims and enhancing their spiritual experience.
