DEMAND FOR REPATRIATION OF ILLEGAL DOMESTIC WORKERS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Regional expert Basam al-Shammari has demanded that domestic workers who have violated the law in the country be given another chance to work. The number of such workers is over a thousand. He added that giving new opportunities to some of these people to work would help the sector to effectively fill the existing shortage of workers. 


This should be done in accordance with the specific regulations and requirements. Coordination between the Department of Domestic Labor in the Manpower Authority and the Immigration Authority in the Ministry of the Interior is much needed. Many of these workers also suffered from the effects of the Covid epidemic and stress. He also said that care should be taken to ensure that those who are eligible are included in the work force.
