SWISS AIRSPACE HAS REOPENED FOLLOWING COMPUTER CRASH

Flights into and out of Switzerland were halted for several hours, and Swiss airspace was blocked, due to a computer breakdown at Skyguide, the air traffic control agency.

Early flights in Geneva and Zurich were cancelled, however Geneva airport indicated that aviation operations was gradually resuming.

Skyguide reported that due to a technical failure in the early hours of Wednesday, Swiss airspace had to be closed to traffic for "safety concerns."

Some planes were redirected to the northern Italian city of Milan.
