UAE Announces Four-Day National Day Holiday for Public Sector

  • 17/11/2025

The UAE has announced a four-day holiday for public sector employees to celebrate National Day (Eid Al Ittihad), marking the country's formation on December 2, 1971. Government workers will receive paid leave on December 1-2, combined with the regular weekend of November 29-30, creating an extended break.

This adjustment reflects the UAE's new unified holiday policy implemented in January 2025, which allows moving some public holidays to create longer weekends. While the private sector's specific holiday dates are yet to be announced, the policy ensures equal holiday distribution across both sectors throughout the year.

The National Day celebrations will feature special events across all emirates, including cultural performances, heritage parades, family entertainment, and fireworks displays. In Dubai, residents can enjoy concerts by Emirati artists, comedy shows, theater productions, and sporting events during the holiday period.
