  • 17/06/2022

An area of France has banned outdoor public events as a record-breaking heatwave spreads throughout Europe. Concerts and huge public gatherings in the Gironde department around Bordeaux have been cancelled. Parts of France reached 40 degrees Celsius sooner this year than ever before on Thursday, with temperatures predicted to peak on Saturday.

According to scientists, extreme heat is growing more common and lasting longer as a result of global warming. High temperatures are also being reported in Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
