Protesters invaded Libya's parliament in the eastern city of Tobruk, setting fire to a portion of the structure.

Images released online showed strong columns of smoke rising from the protesters' burning tyres outside.

Other Libyan cities have seen protests against the country's ongoing power outages, rising prices, and political impasse.

Protesters demanded for elections in Tripoli, Libya's capital, where a rival administration rules.

Their demand was supported by the temporary unity government's leader, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, who stated that all of the country's institutions needed to be overhauled.
