SHANGHAI CASES FOR COVID-19 DOUBLE IN A DAY, RAISING LOCKDOWN CONCERNS

The number of viral infections in Shanghai reached its highest level since late May, raising fears that the city's financial centre may once again be placed under lockdown in the fight against Covid Zero.

Two local Covid illnesses were discovered outside of quarantine on Wednesday, which raised concerns that the virus might be covertly spreading across neighbourhoods. The city reported 54 local Covid cases for the day. The number of mass tests in Shanghai has already expanded, with two PCR tests being administered to all inhabitants over a three-day period in 10 districts and portions of another two in the financial center's total of 16.
