SALE OF COUNTERFEIT GOODS AFFECTING ECONOMY OF KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The sale of counterfeit products is a crime that destroys the country's economy and threatens the lives of consumers. If fake products are used in the spare parts of the car, there will be accidents due to broken brakes and burst tires on the roads. If adulterated food is consumed, it will affect human health.


Authorities have confirmed that fake products are being sold in large quantities in the markets of Kuwait. There are many counterfeit products like clothes, watches and shoes. According to the law, the only punishment is closure of the shop before referral to prosecution if counterfeit products are found. Such activities go hand in hand with money laundering. It is therefore a crime which adversely affects the national economy. Experts also said that leading brands sometimes hesitate to enter the market.
